2nd Death From Coronavirus In Montgomery County Confirmed

Officials confirmed Montgomery County's second death from coronavirus Wednesday.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — Officials confirmed Montgomery County's second death from coronavirus Wednesday. The victim is an 84-year-old man from Abington Township, Montgomery County Commissioner Val Arkoosh announced.

The man had underlying medical conditions, officials said.

The news came on the largest day of new positive tests in the county, as 60 new cases were confirmed Wednesday. There are now 219 cases in Montgomery County.

The only other death confirmed in the county was also an elderly man from Abington Township, a 72-year-old who passed away on Sunday. Abington accounts for 17 of the county's cases, the most behind Cheltenham (18), Lower Providence (21), and Lower Merion (48).

While most of the cases in the county are mild and are remaining home, numerous patients, both young and old, have been hospitalized.

There were a total of 1,127 cases of coronavirus in Pennsylvania as of Wednesday morning, with at least 12 deaths confirmed.
