ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — Police in Abington Township are looking to bolster their ranks.

Applications for police officers are being accepted by the department through noon on June 16.

Applicants must be at least 21 years old, possess a high school diploma or equivalent, have a valid driver's license, be a United States citizen, and be physically and mentally fit to perform the duties of police officer.

Applicants must comply with the Police Department’s Personal Appearance Policy, General Order 41.3.4 on tattoos, branding, and body piercing.

The written examination will be administered in person at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, July 12 at Abington Middle School, 2056 Susquehanna Road in Abington.

Online tests are available in the morning and evenings Monday, July 10 through Thursday, July 13.

The physical agility test will be held Saturday, Aug. 5 at Schwarzman Stadium at Abington Senior High School, 900 Highland Ave. in Abington.

The top 180 scoring candidates, including ties, in the written portion will be eligible to take the physical agility test.

Candidates passing the physical agility test will be eligible to take the oral examination.

Candidates must receive a score of at least 70 percent in the oral examination to pass.
