“Under the U.S. Center for Disease Control’s (CDC) most recent guidelines, it is recommended that all fully vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals wear a mask in public indoor settings in substantial and high transmission areas,” the township posted on its website. “Currently, Montgomery County is a substantial transmission area for COVID-19. In order to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of Township citizens, employees, their families, and all that we serve, Abington Township will be following the CDC’s recommended indoor mask requirement.”

Some local communities are beginning to change their mask policies due to the recent resurgence of COVID-19 cases. Some area school districts across Montgomery County are also beginning to change mask protocols in light of the recent surge in infection rates.
