Abington Township Earns Gold For Sustainability
Abington Township officials received gold certification throughout its departments from LEED for Cities.

ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA —The township has earned gold.
No, it's not the Olympics. But Abington Township recently received gold certification for its sustainability efforts, township officials announced at a recent Board of Commissioners meeting.
Township Manager Richard Manfredi said the recognition came through the U.S. Green Building Council.

The LEED for Cities certification process evaluated and measured a variety of environmental,
social, and economic metrics across nine categories.
He said the gold certification demonstrates the township's commitment to sustainability and its continued integration into township operations.

Manfredi specifically recognized Ashley McIlvaine, the assistant township manager who spearheaded the initiative that resulted in the honor.
McIlvaine helped the township achieve excellence across all departments.
McIlvaine said the LEED for Cities certification was a collaborative effort that began four
years ago where the township evaluated its operations and measured nitiatives across all departments.
She thanked the Board of Commissioners, Manfredi, the Shade Tree Commission, EAC, Human Relations Commission and everyone involved for their hard work.
