Arrest Made In Connection To Stabbing At SEPTA Parking Lot
Gilbert Newton III, 18 was arrested and charged with First-Degree murder and other related offenses in the homicide of Morgan McCaffery, 18.

An arrest has been made in the death of an Abington female who was stabbed repeatedly at a SEPTA parking lot in Montgomery County.
Gilbert Newton III, age 18 was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and other charges in the homicide of ex-girlfriend Morgan McCaffery, age 18. On 8:15 Monday morning, Abington Police responded to the Meadowbrook Train Station where they found McCaffery lying in the parking lot next to her car.
McCaffery had multiple stab wounds from her neck to her stomach. She was pronounced dead at the scene. It was determined that she was stabbed 30 times by Newton and her death was ruled as an homicide. Detectives learned that McCaffery had just ended an year long relationship in June with Newton and they were meeting at the train station to discuss their relationship before being stabbed to death.

Philadelphia Police arrived at the home of Newton at 10am and found him sitting on the couch with bloody clothing. A Jeep Patriot (which was also at the scene) was found parked on the street in front of the home. Newton was arrested and taken to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility with an hearing scheduled for August 4th.
According to a friend of the victim, Newton was very abusive to McCaffery during their relationship and she was concerned for her safety after Newton allegedly threatened her weeks before the murder.

Morgan McCaffery was an recent graduate of Nazareth Academy High School and was scheduled to attend Manor College in the fall. McCaffery worked as an District Manager for Arbonne, an makeup company.
