Dog Days of Summer Event in Glenside Helps Save a Veteran and a Dog
Charity No Dog Gets Left Behind raised nearly $15,000 to support its new Save a Dog Save a Veteran initiative.

On Saturday, Aug. 16, No Dog Gets Left Behind, a nonprofit organization that works to reunite military members with dogs they bonded with while deployed in Afghanistan and Iraq, raised nearly $15,000 at its first ever Dog Days of Summer event held at North Penn VFW Post 676.
Funds raised from the event supported the charity’s newest initiative, dubbed Save a Dog Save a Veteran. Through this program, No Dog Gets Left Behind has taken its mission one step further by not only arranging for a dog to come home from Afghanistan, but also covering all costs for its PTSD service dog training. This translates to a $13,000 proposition; however, it’s a small investment to restore two lives.
As part of the event, PetSmart donated a $10,000 check. Through this gracious support, No Dog Gets Left Behind reached its fundraising goal to bring Betty (pictured below) home. When she makes it stateside in the coming weeks, she will immediately begin PTSD service dog training at a center in Chicago.
