Environmental Advisory Council Seat Needs To Be Filled In Abington
Abington Township residents who want to make a difference in their community's environment are encouraged to apply for the 3-year seat now.
ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — The Abington Township Environmental Advisory Council has a vacant seat that needs to be filled and residents are invited to apply now.
Residents who want to make a difference in improving the township's environment can submit an application for the 3-year seat on the council.
The council comprises seven member volunteers who are appointed by the Board of Commissioners.

Members advise the township on environmental matters and helps inform the public about environmental topics and programs.
Members come from a variety of backgrounds, but all share interest in programs and policies that help our community be better stewards of our natural resources.

For the member position, candidates must feel comfortable engaging with environmental groups, community groups, schools, government officials, township committees and township administration, and be willing to assist at community events and projects, such as park cleanups, public green space maintenance, and invasive plant removal.
Candidates must be able to attend monthly meetings as well as other meetings as needed.
Meetings are held the second Wednesday of the month and are now held virtually.
Applicants should be computer-literate and contribute to social media and other outreach efforts.
