Abington Walks! Lorimer Park

Lorimer Park is home to one of the area’s most dramatic natural features, Council Rock, a massive 100-foot-tall formation, once a meeting place for Lenape Indians. The park’s eight miles of trails on 230 acres includes a stunning stretch of Pennypack Creek and a two-mile section of the abandoned Fox Chase-Newtown rail line, now a walking trail.  Montgomery County’s regional park manager Scott Morgan leads a hike through the park while describing its history, with special focus on George Lorimer, the magazine giant who donated the property.
