Interim Principal Tapped For Abington Senior High School
Susan McCarthy will serve as the school's interim principal after Angelo Berrios leave his position Oct. 27 and a new candidate is sought.
ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — As Abington Senior High School's Principal Angelo Berrios's departure looms, the Abington School District Board of Education recently appointed an interim principal.
Last week, the board appointed Susan McCarthy as the high school's interim principal.
"Ms. McCarthy is a veteran administrator who recently retired from the role of Principal of Council Rock High School North, where she served for 20 years," the district said. "She previously held roles as a Junior High School Principal, High School Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction, High School Grade Level Assistant Principal, Guidance Counselor, High School English Department Coordinator and English Teacher."

McCarthy will serve as interim principal while the district works to identify and hire a successful candidate for the principal's role.
The candidate will be identified and appointed through a process with the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit to "ensure a broad and diverse candidate pool," the district said.

"The candidate search has already begun, and is expected to continue over the next several weeks," Superintendent Jeffrey Fecher said. "Dr. Melchor, Assistant Superintendent, and I will work closely with the current assistant principals during the transition until the successful candidate is able to begin their employment with the Abington School District."
Berrios' resignation is effective Oct. 27.
Berrios will be heading to Pennridge School District to serve as superintendent.
