Jenkintown Gets $99K Grant To Build Community Park

A new community pocket park is coming to Jenkintown, thanks in part to a significant grant from the county.

JENKINTOWN, PA — A new community pocket park is coming to Jenkintown, thanks in part to a significant grant from the county.

The new park, around 0.36 acres in size, will be located in the Cedar Street neighborhood.

According to officials, it will offer needed opoen space and recreation in a particularly dense part of the borough.

The funding comes from the Montco 2040 Implementation Grants, which are aim to help communities improve sustainability, connectivity, and the overall economy.

A total of $1,600,000 in grants was disbursed to fifteen different municipalities in the most recent round of funding.

In Jenkintown, the grant will cover site preparation, demolition, walkways, parking, fencing, stormwater management, utilities, and lawn and landscaping work.
