When did you go into business?

This studio opened February 11, 2017

How did you come up with the name?

"CEO Michael Parrella came up with the name because he wanted something straightforward and easy to remember."

Why start a business here?

"We fell in love with the town feel of Jenkintown and all the local businesses welcomed us with open arms. Jenkintown combines the feel of a small town and the traffic and population of a large city that we need to grow a successful business."

Briefly, what business are you in?

"iLoveKickboxing incorporates the workouts of professional fighters, while making them accessible and fun to the average man or woman looking to lose weight and get in shape. In the group classes, members gear up with authentic boxing gloves and perform genuine conditioning drills and kickboxing techniques on real heavy bags, while instructors motivate and encourage participants to “go the extra mile” to get stellar results."

What’s the most difficult moment or challenge you’ve faced as a business owner?

"Finding the ideal location was challenging; it took longer than we expected (over 6 months). Then the uncertainty of not knowing if we picked the right location until we opened was scary considering the investment to open the business."

What's been your favorite moment/proudest achievement since opening?

"Seeing the joy that our members have from coming to our classes as well as the online reviews we are receiving has been very gratifying, but more importantly the community that we are building and knowing that we are helping change lives of our members has been our greatest achievement thus far."

How does your business give back/get involved in the community?

"We have a few national initiatives that ILKB runs and additional local efforts we are spearheading. On a national level ILKB supports Sweat Angels and Bright Pink, a non-profit focused on the prevention and early detection of breast and ovarian cancer in young women. At the local level, we are supporting Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), and cooking and serving meals at local food kitchens. We are in the planning stages to build a team that will take part in the Big Climb with our employees and members and hope to raise significant funds for LLS."
