JENKINTOWN, PA —SEPTA has released an artist rendering of what improvements to the Jenkintown-Wyncote Station will look like in the future.

SEPTA said that as part of a 12-year capital investment program, it is making stations accessible, acquiring new vehicles, investing in communications, and upgrading services for our buses, Metro, and rail to deliver on our vision of easy-to-use, frequent, and integrated transit.

SEPTA recently canceled a contract for double-decker cars on its regional lines.

The Jenkintown-Wyncote Station will be rebuilt as part of the Station Accessibility Program, making it accessible to people with disabilities and easier to ride for seniors, small children, and their families, and anyone who needs a little more help to get where they are going, SEPTA said.

Improvements will include high-level platforms, a new pedestrian overpass above the tracks, and covered walkways, enhancing the experience of taking Regional Rail or transferring from nearby bus routes.

SEPTA said the design is underway with construction expected between the summer of 2025 until the winter of 2027.

Among the features are:

  • New, high-level platforms to make boarding SEPTA easier for all patrons
  • New pedestrian overpass, with an elevator, to make accessing either platform easier
