Metropolitan Ballet Founder and Artistic Director Lisa Collins Vidnovic says, “Families loved Alice in Wonderland, a whimsical story ballet after the classic novel by Lewis Carroll, when we premiered this production in 2005, and our dancers are excited to perform this favorite children’s story. Children and adults will also enjoy seeing The Little Engine That Could, the beloved tale of an optimistic train engine by Watty Piper, come to life with lovely choreography by Jennifer Clagett Sommers.”

Metropolitan Ballet Company, a pre-professional dance company affiliated with Metropolitan Ballet Academy, has earned recognition from Pointe magazine as one of “seven local studios in America cultivating top talent” (November 2011), and its alumni now dance in professional companies across America. More than 100 Metropolitan students have earned highest honors at Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) and/or scholarships for intensive study with many prestigious ballet companies nationwide.
“While giving our dancers valuable performance experience, Metropolitan’s Family Concert Series is a wonderful way for families and schools to introduce children to dance, with fully-produced story ballets that delight and inspire, performed by highly talented student dancers including boys from our renowned Boys’ Scholarship Program,” says Vidnovic. “The Series is part of our mission to bring high quality dance to our community, and to develop a love and appreciation for dance and the arts. We are grateful to our many donors who make these productions possible and welcome all to enjoy them.”
