Montco Company Providing Free Uber Rides For Voters To Polls
The service calls itself bipartisan and aims to address low voter turnout in recent elections.

A Montgomery County firm has built an App to help voters catch a free ride to and from the polls this coming fall.
Campaign Grid, which has offices in Washington, D.C. and in Fort Washington in Montgomery County, created VoterDrive, which connects voters to Uber.
“VoterDrive brings a 21st century solution to a major problem facing our democracy, low voter participation,” said Rich Masterson, CEO of VoterDrive, in a statement. “Modern life has evolved dramatically since the last time we had an open race for president in 2008. It’s time that the way people get out to vote evolved as well, and VoterDrive is that evolution.”

Voters can ride for free, up to $10 per ride, by requesting a ride through the VoterDrive.us website.
On their website, VoterDrive describes the service as bipartisan noting that only 60 percent of eligible voters went to the polls during the 2012 election cycle. They also cited a Pew Research study that said the United States ranked 31 out of 35 developed countries in voter turnout.
