Rockledge Borough Police Chief Resigns

Rockledge Police Chief John Gallagher joined the department in August 2022. The borough is seeking a replacement.

ROCKLEDGE BOROUGH, PA —Police Chief John Gallagher has resigned after two years of leading the borough's police department, borough officials said.

Borough Manager Bryan J. Poster said that he and Borough Council President Frank Enderle received "with sincere regret: Gallagher's resignation.

Gallagher has joined the borough in August 2022.

His extensive background and managerial-level experience in community policing enabled the borough to continue with its commitment to new ideas and professionalism, Poster said.

During his tenure, he has provided valuable new ideas and continued many programs previously implemented that have and will continue to benefit the Rockledge community.

Some of Chief Gallagher’s strategic achievements and continuation of current programs include increasing bus stop patrols, increasing police visibility by strengthening foot patrols and house checks, and having an open-door policy for Rockledge residents, making sure that each of them is heard.

"He leaves a team with many years of experience in place and the department in an excellent position for future growth," Poster said. "We are uncertain of the chief’s future endeavors but wish him well. His passion and commitment to our community as the Rockledge Police Department’s chief will be sincerely missed."

Enderle and council members expressed their appreciation to Chief Gallagher and his contribution to the borough and wished him success.

The borough is now in the process of locating and appointing a new chief for the police department, Poster said.
