Route 611 To Be Restricted In Abington Next Week

Daytime lane restrictions are set for Route 611 in Abington next week.

ABINGTON, PA — Daytime lane restrictions are set for Route 611 in Abington next week, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT).

Officials said that closures would be in place for overhead bridge work between Jericho Road and Hamilton Avenue.

Restrictions will take place from Monday Sept. 11 through Friday Sept. 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Edge Hill Road passenger vehicles are being detoured over Susquehanna Road, Fitzwatertown Road and Old Welsh Road. Trucks are being directed over Jenkintown Road, Fitzwatertown Road and Old Welsh Road. Pedestrian traffic will be maintained for the duration of construction and local vehicular access will be maintained up to the construction area, PennDOT said.

The structurally deficient bridge was built in 1947 and carries an average of 7,138 vehicles per day.
