Ross Schriftman, organizer of Shirley’s Run, Maple Glen’s only 5K run and 1K walk that raises funds for animal organizations, donated event proceeds to Spay and Save. Located in Lafayette Hill, PA, Spay and Save facilitates pet adoptions, offers low cost spaying and neutering, subsidizes veterinary care and sponsors pet adoption days in communities in Montgomery County.

“Shirley’s Run is a continuation of my mother’s mission of supporting organizations that either rescue animals or train them to be of service the community,” said Schriftman. “Since Mom was one to “adopt, not shop” when it came to her pets, I am very pleased to present a donation to this year’s recipient, Spay and Save.”

Spay and Save was founded by the late Peg Banes in the 1970s as a way to reduce the number of animals in shelters, by making low cost spay and neuter services available to pet owners. The organization is not a shelter. It is a network of volunteers who foster cats and dogs as they await adoption, and it offers low-cost veterinary services to pet owners.
