Teen Charged In North Hills Armed Carjacking: Abington Police

According to police, Hezekiah Washington, 16, of Boyertown, was taken into custody Tuesday and charged with robbery of a motor vehicle.

ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA — Police in Abington Township have made an arrest and filed charges in connection with a Dec. 26 carjacking in the township's North Hills section.

According to police, Hezekiah Washington, 16, of Boyertown, was taken into custody Tuesday and charged with robbery of a motor vehicle, firearm crimes, terroristic threats, simple assault, and more, court records show.

Police said the incident occurred at 11 p.m. on Dec. 26 in a parking lot near 88 Station Avenue in the North Hills section of Abington Township.

The victim was sitting in his red Dodge Charger talking with friends at that time, date, and location.

Police said the five men, most of them armed with guns and wearing ski masks, approached the vehicle.

One of the men grabbed the victim and pulled him out of the car, police said.

The suspects then got in the victim’s car and drove off.

The vehicle crashed a short time later in Cheltenham Township, and all suspects fled.

Police said they are believed to have been picked up by a trailing vehicle.

Abington Detectives identified Washington as the main suspect, police said.

Washington was arrested by Pottstown Police in an unrelated incident.

Abington Police obtained an arrest warrant for Washington, charging him with robbery of a motor vehicle and related firearms offenses.

Due to the violent nature of this crime, Washington will be charged as an adult, police said.
