Vehicle Break-Ins On Rise In Cheltenham Twp.

Cheltenham Township Police said the crimes are similar to what neighboring Abington Township has experienced recently.

CHELTENHAM TOWNSHIP, PA —Like neighboring Abington Township, the Cheltenham Township Police Department said it is seeing similar crimes regarding stolen vehicles and theft from vehicles as well.

The police department urges residents to make sure their vehicles are locked at all times, and all valuables are removed while left unattended.

Police also ask residents not to leave keys or key fobs inside the vehicle either (yes, that does happen).

The police department has increased patrols and is working with other departments to identify and arrest suspects involved in the crimes.

Anyone with information regarding the crimes or who witnesses anything suspicious should call 911 immediately so a police officer can get out to the scene right away.

In Abington Township, police have reported that "high-performance" Dodge vehicles have been targeted.

Cheltenham Police are offering these tips to residents to keep their vehicles safe:

  • Lock your vehicle.
  • Take your keys or fob with you.
  • Do not leave valuables in your vehicle.
  • Call 911 if you see something suspicious.
