Vehicle Thefts, Thefts From Vehicles Rising In Abington

Abington Township Police warn residents to remain vigilant about the crimes that also include suspects armed with guns.

ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA —Abington Police are warning residents about increased thefts from vehicles and thefts of motor vehicles occurring during the late-night hours in the township and surrounding communities.

In several of the incidents, the suspects were reported to be armed with a gun, police said.

Police ask residents never to attempt to confront anyone and to call 911 immediately if they see or hear anything suspicious.

The following precautions should also be taken to help prevent becoming a target:

  • Always lock your vehicle, even when it’s parked in your driveway or garage.
  • Always take your keys or fob with you.
  • Never leave wallets, purses, or other valuables in your vehicle.
  • Never leave your car running while unattended or unlocked.
  • Park your vehicles in well-lit areas whenever possible.
  • Consider installing security cameras or using motion-activated lights around your property.
  • Consider leaving your exterior lights on throughout the night.
  • Stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately to 911.
