2 Storms Target Philly Area; First Round Expected Tuesday Night
Multiple rounds of torrential rainfall could quickly swell rivers and creeks and shut down roads, the National Weather Service warned.
EASTERN PA — A pair of storm fronts are moving towards eastern Pennsylvania that could bring torrential rain, leading to flood and road closures, according to forecasters.
The first round of storms is slated to hit the region later Tuesday into early Wednesday. There's a chance for rain and thunder after 1 p.m., but storms are more likely to arrive later in the day and continue until the early morning hours Wednesday.
There will be a short pause between storms, the National Weather Service said, with a lesser chance of thunder and rain on Wednesday and temperatures soaring to 91 degrees. By Thursday it will be sunny again, and highs will reach 95 degrees in the greater Philadelphia area, forecasters said.

"Rainfall of 1-4 inches is likely with locally much higher amounts," AccuWeather said. "Where 1-2 inches of rain falls in as many hours, the risk of flash flooding will be the greatest."
The second storm front will bring even higher likelihood of flooding, as it will be the second significant rainfall of the week and creeks and rivers will likely already be swollen.
