7 PA Hospitals Ranked In Top 1% Nationally In New Report

Seven hospitals in Pennsylvania are ranked among the top 1 percent of clinical care facilities in the country, according to a new report Tuesday.

The 2026 America’s Best Hospitals awards from Healthgrades, an online resource to help people find doctors and hospitals, is a three-tiered ranking of the top 50, 100 and 250 hospitals, which, respectively, represent the top 1 percent, 2 percent and 5 percent of clinical care hospitals nationwide.

In Pennsylvania, medical centers named to America’s 50 Best Hospitals are:

• Lancaster General Hospital - 24th consecutive year listed
• Lankenau Medical Center - 14th consecutive year listed
• Chester County Hospital - 13th consecutive year listed
• Reading Hospital - 13th consecutive year listed
• St. Luke's Hospital-Bethlehem Campus - 11th consecutive year listed
• Riddle Memorial Hospital - 9th consecutive year listed
• Milton S Hershey Medical Center - 9th consecutive year listed

Pennsylvania hospitals ranked in the top 100 are:

• Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania - 7th consecutive year among America's Best Hospitals
• Pennsylvania Hospital - 6th consecutive year listed
• WellSpan York Hospital - 6th consecutive year listed
• Penn Presbyterian Medical Center - 6th consecutive year listed
• Jefferson Einstein Montgomery Hospital - 5th consecutive year listed
• Jefferson Einstein Philadelphia Hospital - 5th consecutive year listed

Hospitals in the top 250 are:

• WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital - 3rd consecutive year listed
  
• Bryn Mawr Hospital - 3rd consecutive year listed
• Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest - 2nd consecutive year listed
• Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center - 2nd consecutive year listed
• WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital - first year listed
• Grand View Health - first year listed
• Geisinger Community Medical Center - first year listed
• Penn Highlands Mon Valley - first year listed
• UPMC Williamsport - first year listed

If all hospitals performed similarly to America’s 250 Best Hospitals, 211,370 lives could have been saved, Healthgrades said in a news release.

Nearly two-thirds of consumers say they’re more likely to choose a hospital with a quality award than without, highlighting the growing importance of access to objective hospital quality data, Healthgrades said. To determine the top 250 U.S. hospitals, Healthgrades evaluated clinical performance for approximately 4,500 hospitals across more than 30 common procedures and conditions.

"This year’s America’s Best Hospitals list gives patients a clearer picture of where high-quality care is delivered most consistently, helping them understand their options and feel confident in choosing the care that's right for them.”
