Deadline To Register To Vote In PA Primary Coming Soon

PENNSYLVANIA — Pennsylvania residents have only four weeks left to register to vote in the Keystone State's primary election on April 23, according to a reminder sent by state officials Monday.
The deadline to register for this year's primary is April 8, officials said.
“It takes only a few minutes to register to vote, and I urge every eligible Pennsylvanian who is not yet registered to do so before the... deadline," Secretary of the Commonwealth Al Schmidt said in the reminder. "Once you are registered, you can then exercise your fundamental right to vote and let your voice be heard in the upcoming primary election."

To vote in the state's primary election, residents must be a registered Republican or Democrat. The primary is held to determine each party's candidate for president, U.S. representative, U.S. senator and several other elected seats.
To be eligible, voters must also be:

- A citizen of the United States for at least one month before the primary.
- A resident of the election district in which the person plans to register for at least 30 days before the primary.
- At least 18 years of age on or before the date of the primary.
Voters can check their voter registration status at pavoterservices.pa.gov.
In addition to online, voters can register at county voter/elections offices, various county offices, armed forces recruitment centers and PennDOT photo and driver license centers.
The deadline to register to vote in this year's general election on Nov. 5 is Oct. 21.
Registered voters can also request a no-excuse mail-in or absentee ballot online. Mail-in and absentee ballot applications must be received by a voter's county elections board by 5 p.m. on April 16. Voted mail-in and absentee ballots must be received by county election offices by 8 p.m. on April 23.
