Sen. Fetterman Was Speeding In Recent Car Crash: Police
The Pennsylvania Senator was traveling well over the 70 mile per hour speed limit just before he hit another vehicle, state police said.

PENNSYLVANIA — U.S. Sen. John Fetterman was speeding and at fault for the crash he was involved in on a Maryland highway Sunday, according to Maryland State Police.
The incident occurred in the westbound lanes of I-70 approaching I-68.
Fetterman drove past a witness, who was driving the posted speed limit of 70 miles per hour, at a "high rate of speed," according to state police.

As Fetterman, who was traveling with his wife, approached the exit to I-68, he rear-ended another vehicle, police said.
Fetterman, his wife, and the driver of the other vehicle were all taken to the nearby War Memorial Hospital after the crash. Both vehicles sustained significant damage and were towed from the scene.

No criminal charges or citations have been filed, but the investigation is ongoing.
During his initial public response to the accident, Fetterman did not acknowledge that he was at fault.
"Not the best way to spend our 16th wedding anniversary but we’re doing well and happy to be back home in Braddock with the family," Fetterman shared on his social media accounts Monday.
The car crash comes amid renewed questioning over Fetterman's mental state following a sharp swing in his politics to the center. Fetterman was hospitalized following a stroke in 2022, a near-death experience which he indicated recently to Bill Maher "freed him" to change his views.
Known throughout his career as a progressive maverick who bucked trends in the Democratic party and stood in stark contrast to the establishment's Josh Shapiro — who saw a concurrent rise to leadership in 2022 — Fetterman has drawn headlines in recent weeks arguing for immigration restrictions, border policy, and unequivocal support for Israel amid the bloodshed and humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
