PA Police Officer Killed, 2 Injured During Burglary Call: Reports
The slain officer was identified Friday as a 40-year law enforcement veteran who was one month away from retirement, according to reports.
LEBANON, PA — A police officer was killed and two others were injured Thursday while responding to a burglary in Lebanon, according to multiple reports.
On Friday, authorities identified the slain officer as 63-year-old William Lebo, a lieutenant with the Lebanon Police Department. Lebo was a month away from retirement, according to reports.
Lebo was among several officers who responded to a burglary at 1108 Forest St. on Thursday. Police said 34-year-old Travis Shaud of Lebanon had broken into a family member's home there, CBS 21 reported.

When officers arrived, Shaud immediately opened fire, according to CBS 21. Officers returned fire and Shaud was pronounced dead at the scene.
The two surviving officers were identified as Ryan Adams and Derek Underkoffler, both 32, the Lebanon Daily News reported. Both officers were critically injured.

Shaud has a criminal record that included two assault convictions. In 2020, he pleaded guilty to simple assault for an incident that occurred in June 2019 and was sentenced to nine days to 23 months, the Daily News reported. He also pleaded guilty to simple assault for a December 2018 incident and received probation.
A protection order was filed against Shaud in 2021 for physical abuse of his infant daughter.
