Packaged Garlic In PA Could Cause Botulism, FDA Warns
The garlic sold in Pennsylvania stores may contain bacteria causing life threatening illness or death, the FDA says.
The FDA has issued a recall on two brands of peeled garlic in Pennsylvania stores that may be contaminated with bacteria causing botulism.
The impacted products are Christopher Ranch Peeled Garlic and Garland Peeled Garlic, both sold by New York-based Top Friendly Markets.
There are 16 Top Friendly Markets in Pennsylvania, mostly in the north-central part of the state. For a full list of locations, see here.

The issue was discovered during a routine store inspection.
"It has the potential to be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum due to the product being kept at insufficient temperatures," the FDA said in the recall warning. "Clostridium botulinum is a bacterium which can cause life threatening illness or death. Consumers are warned not to consume the product even if it does not look or smell spoiled."

The product was also distributed in New York and Vermont.
The garlic is packed in 6 ounce bags with UPC numbers of UPC 74574-10852, 71894-00000, and 68826-75340. Photos are included below:
