Torrential Rain Could Cause Flooding This Week In Eastern PA: Forecast

Torrential rain is possible over the next several days, which could lead to flooding in the region, forecasters said.

EASTERN PA — Heavy rain and thunderstorms are possible in parts of eastern Pennsylvania throughout the week, which could cause flash flooding, forecasters said.

Rain will begin on Monday morning, and will be heavy at times, the National Weather Service said.

Storms will continue intermittently throughout the day, but are most likely to be severe in the afternoon, with up to an 80 percent chance of hitting the region, according to the National Weather Service.

Some chance of storms will continue every day through Thursday night, though the most likely opportunities are Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon.

While some local areas may receive negligible rainfall totals, the impact in areas that receive thunderstorms could be significant, particularly later in the week as several days of rain fill local rivers and creeks.

"Some very heavy rain the next few days could lead to a local flash flooding risk," the National Weather Service's Mt. Holly, New Jersey branch said.
