A lake effect occurring in Pennsylvania brings the potential for snow to fall across the area along with historically cold temps.

PENNSYLVANIA — The winter season is getting a head start with snow showers and frigid temperatures expected to hit Pennslyvania on Tuesday.

As of Tuesday morning, the US National Weather Service Philadelphia/Mount Holly already has reported some snow showers moving through southeastern Pennsylvania.

Due to the lake effect occurring in portions of central and western Pennsylvania, snow flurries and showers are forecasted to fall throughout the day.

More snow showers are possible farther north from the southern Poconos into the Lehigh Valley and northern New Jersey with some flurries possible near Interstate 95.

Along with snow, Pennsylvania residents should make sure to grab their coats as temperatures will run 10 to 20 degrees below the historical average for late November, making it feel more like late December or January in terms of nighttime low, according to accuweather.com.
