These 10 Counties In PA Have Gotten Much Richer, Data Shows

The next wealthiest Pennsylvania county could still be on its way up the ranks.

PENNSYLVANIA — Chester County is consistently named the richest in Pennsylvania — though perhaps it won't be for long.

Pennsylvania's median household income was $71,798 in 2022, the most recently available year. That's up from $70,789 in 2020, but down from $72,627 in 2021. It's also lower than the 2022 national average of $74,580, according to census data.

Meanwhile, as of 2022, the top-earning Pennsylvania counties — Chester County, Montgomery County, and Bucks County — have a median household income of $117,232, $106,811, and $105,398, respectively.

But over the past decade, many Pennsylvania towns have evolved, and with evolution can come growth for the county. The next wealthiest Pennsylvania county could still be on its way up the ranks.
