How many towns lost thousands of residents last year? Here are the latest Pennsylvania estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau.
PENNSYLVANIA - More Philadelphia-area residents uprooted and left their homes than state residents living anywhere else in 2021, according to a recent U.S. Census Bureau estimate report.
The annual report, which compared city and town population totals between 2020 and mid-2021, reported that Philadelphia topped the statewide list with around 27,500 residents moving out of the area.
Major cities represented a significant portion of the areas that Pennsylvania residents were leaving in droves, with other municipalities like Pittsburgh, Reading City, McKeesport City and Scranton also reporting flocks of residents on the move.
