Tourists Call This PA Restaurant A ‘Hidden Gem’

Part of the joy of traveling is finding delicious food along the way. One Pennsylvania restaurant stands out, according to a TripAdvisor ranking based on diner reviews.

One of the 20 restaurants ranked in the hidden gems category was in Pennsylvania: Finelli's Italian Villa, out in Altoona.

Here's what Tripadvisor had to say about the eatery:

"Finelli's Italian Villa keeps things warm and inviting, with charming decor and a relaxed vibe that makes it easy to settle in," they wrote. "The menu leans on high-quality ingredients and beautiful plating: try the homemade desserts or one of their pasta specials. Staff are friendly and attentive, and the prices make it easy to treat yourself without overthinking it."

Tripadvisor claims their Travelers’ Choice Awards represent the “best of the best” in several categories.

The hidden gems list, however, is heavily biased toward Florida spots, with 11 restaurants from the Sunshine state taking up more than half of the 20 spots. And Ten of those 11 are in southern Florida.

Tripadvisor said the “best of the best” title celebrates the highest level of excellence in travel. It’s awarded to those who receive a high volume of above-and-beyond reviews and opinions from Tripadvisor users over 12 months. Out of the site’s 8 million listings, fewer than 1 percent achieve this milestone.
