A Fun Space for Families Opens in Lower Gwynedd

Created to cater to busy families, , offers toys and games for babies, toddlers, and even tweens, as well as free wifi, coffee and pastries for parents.

Owner, Candice Love, said she’s from Ambler, works in University City, is finishing up her PhD program, and is a mom of a 5 year old son. She said this is the kind of place she would want to bring her son.

Love said the idea was sparked when her son outgrew a similar concept in Chestnut Hill, but she still wanted a somewhere to take him to play while she did schoolwork.

When she saw the space, she fell in love with it. The murals in the space were all painted by her family - the kids handprints in the playhouse were done by the children in her family, the tree was painted by her mother Marnita Kidd-Love and Candice and her husband painted the mural in the tweens room.

With toys and games for all ages, no child will feel left out – there’s even computers for kids to do homework and a Wii for older children to play on.

And while the kids are playing, parents can catch up on work, work on their own school work, spend time with other parents, or just relax. Love has board games available for adults to play as well, including Life and Uno, among others.

Besides coffee and pastries, Made with Love Cafe will also carry coffee and tea, milk and juices, pastries and breads, and a small selection of “crock pot meals,” all of which are kid-approved. Love said they will serve meatballs, mac and cheese, oatmeal, soups, and more.

On Saturdays Made With Love will have special activities for families. This Saturday, July 14, they will have family karaoke from 6 until 8 p.m.

Each weeknight there’s story time under the tree in the playhouse.

She said she wanted to make a place where parents could have a social life while also welcoming their families.

Made with Love Café and Playhouse opened on Saturday, July 7 and has already had a great reception by the community. Love said parents have been very excited and kids are crying when they have to leave.

The café and playhouse is open Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
