Ambler Golf Shop will Carry Uncommon Lines

, located at 10 E Butler Ave., is “Everything golf,” said owner Kevin Melrath.

The golf pro spent 13 years working at two different golf clubs in the area and has played the game for 26 years. He said he’s “taking a stab at this” with opening the golf shop in Ambler.

The shop will carry 75 percent golf apparel, and Melrath said he plans on having competitively lower prices that the local pro shops and big box stores.

Among the lines he will be carrying, are a few that golfers won’t be able to find in other stores. Including Johnnie O shirts, which are popular on television and the west coast.

He’ll also be one of the first retailers to carry Crocs golf shoes in both men’s and women’s sizes and styles. The shoes were introduced at the PGA show and he’s hoping Ambler Golf Shop will be one of the first shipments of the shoes in mid-April.

The local golf shop will also carry some golf bags and a few putters and wedges.

Melrath said he chose Ambler for the location of the store – with a bustling “up and coming” downtown and a location near the large SEPTA parking lot. However, he added that he lives on Ridge Ave. in the Borough and likes the quaint, walkable town atmosphere that Ambler brings.

“Being local, I hope people will support the local golf shop,” he said.

The shop is open Tuesday through Friday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
