Camp program is going swimmingly at the Mermaid Art Studio.

Day camp artists-in-training show off their charming and unique projects designed under instruction by resident Mermaid, Denine Wish.

Denine Wish has been running the for twelve years, and the studio is, in itself a true piece of art.  No surface is safe from artist inspiration at Mermaid.  Walls, floors, ceilings, pillars and every piece of furniture have all become custom pieces of artwork.

With her credentials of BFA from Moore College of Art and Design and MFA from State University of New York (SUNY), Denine teaches all ages and skill levels in her unique studio in mosaics, painting on canvas, furniture, even clothing.  Artists can also customize pottery that Denine fires in her own kiln, and many other projects.

The creative young artists in the Mermaid Art Studio's day camp program recently designed marionettes from scratch, by making their clothes, molding and painting their heads, hands and feet from clay, which were kiln fired and then strung up to be ready for an inpromptu puppet show.

Another adorable and functional project made by artists-in-training were downspout extenders, which fit onto existing downspouts and can be filled with soap before the next rainstorm for making bubbles as rainwater passes through them.

If you peek in the window, or stop in, you can tell by the happy faces, that Denine's students love being at Mermaid.  Talented local artist, Caleb Kirk can also be seen presently working on a mural featuring a mermaid in her natural under-the-sea habitat while Denine Wish and her assistant, Isabella Kelly work with children in the studio.

So stop in!  There are plenty of drop-in projects that can be done, but, you can also schedule more indepth workshops, classes, Mom-and-Me projects, as well as parties and group lessons on the premises or off-site.  With Denine's instruction, you can make custom gifts and heirloom pieces of art that will be treasured forever.

Denine also makes customized baby gifts that cannot be found anywhere else: a Peek-a-Belly ultrasound viewer, and baby book keepsake that chronicles your child's early childhood.  Check out these charming and unique items online.

You can contact Denine Wish at Mermaid Art Studio to find out more information about upcoming programs, her art, and classes at 215-619-4757, visiting the studio at 15 East Butler Avenue in Ambler or visiting them on the web.
