The facility is part of the company's pledged $55 billion investment in U.S. projects by 2029. The company says it will help them "deliver...(their) portfolio of transformational medicines." Pennsylvania officials pointed to cancer, immune-mediated, and neurological disease applications.

No information on the construction timeline has been made available.

Pennsylvania's U.S. Sen. Dave McCormick said the company's selection of Pennsylvania is a reflection of the state's strength.

“Pennsylvania leads in life sciences and advanced manufacturing because we consistently deliver what companies like Johnson and Johnson need to succeed," McCormick said. "A skilled workforce, premier research institutions, and proven manufacturing strength."

Johnson & Johnson already has 10 facilities around Pennsylvania, with dedicated manufacturing, research, and office operations all centered locally.
