Man Sentenced For Breaking Into Montco Home, Raping 6-Year-Old Girl

In a nightmarish incident last November, a man broke into a Montco apartment and raped a 6-year-old girl. He was sentenced Thursday.

A man convicted of breaking into a Hatfield apartment raping a 6-year-old girl in her bed has been sentenced to 24 to 70 years in prison, court documents how.

Oscar Rivera Herrera, 29, was caught in the act by one of the girl’s parents, and held in the Hatfield Village Apartment unit at knife-point until police arrived, the Montgomery County District Attorney said.

The incident occurred on November 9 sometime before 4 a.m.., authorities said. Herrera broke in and began to rape the girl while her 11-year-old brother was in the bunk bed below her.

The parents came into the room and held Herrera at knife point until authorities arrived.

Herrera told police that he had broken into the same apartment two or three years ago but no one was there, the DA said.

He was convicted in June. According to Philly.com, he is a father, and told the court that he knew he must pay for what he did but that he wanted to live for his son.
