Hatfield Man Convicted Of Rape Of 6-Year-Old Girl

The man allegedly broke into the home of a girl, 6, and raped her in her bed, officials said.

The man accused of breaking into a Hatfield apartment in November and raping a 6-year-old girl has been convicted, according to court documents.

Oscar Rivera Herrera, 28, was caught in the act on November 9 by one of the girl’s parents, and held in the Hatfield Village Apartment unit at knife-point until police arrived, the DA said.

Officials believe that Herrera is an illegal immigrant, according to the Times Herald.

Sentencing will be held at a later date.

Police were alerted at 4:02 a.m. when the girl’s 11-year-old brother called 9-1-1 and said a man had broken into the house and “done something” to his sister, according to the DA.

Philly.com reports that the girl's brother, who slept in the bunk above the girl, thought he was having a bad dream when he heard noises.

The prosecutor reportedly said at the trial that instead, the girl was "living her worst nightmare."

Herrera told police that he had broken into the same apartment two or three years ago but no one was there, the DA said.
