Ambler Borough

Theft

On April 1 at 10:30 a.m., Officer Thomas Craig responded to 209 S. Locust St. for report of theft of prescription drugs from a vehicle.

Noise

A noise complaint was filed against Bar 31 at 31 N. Main St. April 2 at 1:41 a.m.

Alarm

On April 2 at 10:40 a.m., Officer Thomas Craig responded to a basement smoke detector at Philly Phamous at 36 Tennis Avenue.

Accident

A traffic accident occurred April 3 at 9:20 a.m. at 203 Southern Ave.

Noise

A noise complaint was filed against an apartment at 352 Valley Brook Road in the Longford Apartments April 3 at 7:40 p.m.

House fire

Officer Ryan Rhodes responded to a house fire at 316 Pleasant Acres Drive April 3 at 7:50 p.m.

Alarm

Officer William Frank responded to a burglar alarm at Lutter, Inc., 100 Wissahickon Ave., April 5 at 6:35 p.m.

Suspicious subject

Suspicious solicitors were reported at 401 Tennis Ave. April 5 at 6:38 p.m. Officer Nicholas Nasobkow responded.

Juvenile complaint

Officer Thomas Craig responded to a call of juveniles being loud and disrespectful at the Ambler McDonald’s, 119 W. Butler Ave.

Fight

Officer Ryan Rhodes responded to a fight in progress at Forest Garden Apartments, 125 Forest Ave., April 6 at 6:35 p.m.

Suspicious activity

Officer Robert Hoffman responded to a report of suspicious activity at Bob Fox German Auto Repair at 210 N. Main St. April 7 at 3:40 a.m.

Whitpain Township

DUI

On March 20 at 3:50 p.m., officers responded to the parking lot of the Wawa, 1025 Dekalb Pike, for a vehicle crash. A 31-year-old male advised he was parked in a parking space when a Nissan Pathfinder pulled in alongside his vehicle and hit his vehicle. He stated that the driver attempted to leave the scene before police got there. When the officer arrived on location Louisa Lance, 73, of the 1600 block of Township Line Road in Gwynedd Valley, almost struck the police car as she tried to back out of the parking space. Officers noticed the odor of alcohol, and she was taken to Mercy Suburban Hospital for blood. Charges, including DUI, will be filed upon receipt of the blood results.

Drug/weapons arrest

On March 22 at 4:24 p.m., an officer was on foot patrol in the area of Railroad Avenue and Oak Street when he observed two male subjects drinking 40-ounce bottles of beer. While speaking with several subjects, he noticed that Jovon Burrell, 29, of the 300 block of West Francis Avenue, was dressed inappropriately for the weather. When asked if anyone had any weapons, Burrell lifted up his coat to reveal a large bayonet with brass-colored knuckles as the handle. During a full search, the officer then located a large, clear Ziploc bag containing several smaller bags of marijuana and seven tablets of suspected Xanax. Burrell was charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance and prohibitive offensive weapons. Burrell was arraigned before District Justice Murray, and bail was set at $1,500. He was taken to Montgomery County Correctional Facility on a detainer from Montgomery County Adult Probation.

Marijuana

On March 23 at 1024 p.m. an officer traveling on Skippack Pike saw a tan Nissan with a headlight out traveling east on Skippack Pike. When the officer turned around to stop the vehicle, the driver, Keith Law, 29, of the 500 block of Jamestown Street in Philadelphia, pulled into a vacant gas station and then crossed over Skippack Pike into an office building parking lot. When the officer walked up to the car, he saw a bag of suspected marijuana on the floor behind the driver’s seat. During a search, the officer also located a small jar containing suspected marijuana and a glass pipe. Charges, including possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia, will be filed by summons once lab results are received.

Retail theft

On March 28 at 5:48 p.m., officers were called to Kohl’s Department Store, 1301 Skippack Pike, where Jessika Taylor, 20, of the 200 block of Main Street in Ambler, was in custody for attempting to steal merchandise valued at $452.50. Kohl’s Loss Prevention Officer observed Taylor conceal perfume and jewelry and then leave the store without paying for the items. She was charged with misdemeanor retail theft and later arraigned before District Judge Maruszczak. Bail was set at $10,000 unsecured, and she was released.

Retail theft

On March 28 at 5: 48 p.m., officers went to Kohl’s Department Store, 1301 Skippack Pike, for a woman in custody for retail theft. Kohl’s Loss Prevention Officer advised that Diana Gardner, 52, of the 500 block of Rocky Valley Road in Quakertown, attempted to steal various jewelry and clothing items valued at $482. Gardner was charged with felony retail theft and arraigned before District Justice Maruszczak. Bail was set at $10,000 cash, and she was transported to Montgomery County Correctional Facility.

Fraud

On April 1,  a male resident came to the station to report identity theft. He advised that on March 31, he contacted the IRS to check on his federal tax refund. At that time he was informed that someone had already submitted a tax return using his name and Social Security number. The fraudulent tax return was filed out of Pittsburgh, PA, and a refund of over $1,300 was issued on that return.

Warrant service

On April 2 at 10:27 p.m., an officer was on patrol in the West Ambler section of Whitpain Township and came upon a disturbance in the 300 block of Maple Street involving several male and female subjects. The officer determined that this argument was an ongoing incident that began at the Liberty Gas Station in Ambler Borough. All parties advised that the incident was over, but while on location, it was determined that there was an outstanding warrant out of Philadelphia for Kimberleigh Green, 49, of the 300 block of Railroad Avenue, who was a relative of some of the women involved in the earlier incident. She was taken into custody and later released to Philadelphia Warrant Unit.

Drug arrest

On April 2 at 2:38 a.m., an officer located an occupied vehicle in the area of Oak Street and Railroad Avenue. During the stop, the officer located marijuana placed between the driver’s seat and the center console. Also located during a search was a baggie containing suspected cocaine. The driver, Bernard Johnson, 51, of the 400 block of Bethlehem Pike in Fort Washington, and the passenger, Tyleek Lee, 21, of the 700 block of Astor Street in Norristown, were taken into custody wand will be charged with possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine and possession of paraphernalia pending outcome of lab results. Johnson was later released, and Lee was taken to Montgomery County Correctional Facility on a probation detainer.

Disorderly conduct

On April 2 at 2:14 a.m., a gray Chevy was stopped on Morris Road in the area of Tournament Drive because it swerved into the oncoming lane. During the stop, the officer saw a small amount of marijuana on the rear passenger’s side seat. The passenger in the vehicle, Kyle Staats, 22, of the 2000 block of Hollis Road in Lansdale, admitted that the marijuana was his. He was cited at the scene for disorderly conduct for possession of a small amount of marijuana.

Warrant service

On April 3 at 1:01 a.m., an officer was on patrol on Oak Street and Railroad Avenue and located Anthony Sproul, 33, of the 100 block of Herman Sreet in Philadelphia. While checking Sproul, the officer was informed that there was an active Montgomery County Bench warrant for failure to appear. He was taken into custody and later released to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department.

Attempted burglary

On April 3 at 4:35 p.m., the owner of Sesame Rockwood Camp at 1702 Yost Road was working inside the main building when he heard banging outside. When he went out, he saw three males, approximately 17, attempting to break into the sports shed. All three were wearing dark clothes and had their hoods up on their sweatshirts. When the witness yelled at the kids, they ran off toward Stony Creek Elementary School. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Whitpain Township Police Department Detective Division.
