The much anticipated in Ambler opens at 11 a.m. July 1, and has already been taking pre-orders at the Jenkintown store for excited Ambler-area customers.
Owner Chad Rosenthal said the new Ambler location will be a more Memphis-style barbecue joint, with an order window, a few tables and a few high top bar tables. Servers will call your number when your order is ready, and it’ll be a B.Y.O.B. restaurant.
The restaurant seats 25, but Rosenthal expects that most people are going to be taking their meals to go.

There also won’t be any cooking going on in Ambler. Rosey’s BBQ’s brisket is seasoned and then rests for 12 hours, is smoked for 18 hours and then rests for six hours. Rosenthal thought, "Why not let it rest while we take it to another shop in another location?"
This also allows the same chef to be making the same food for both locations, so the brisket and ribs you have at the Jenkintown restaurant will be the same ones you’ll have at the Ambler joint.

The meats will be brought over every morning for hungry Rosey’s diners.
“There might be times when we do run out,” said Rosenthal.
However, he added that if some things start to run low, they will make another run to the Jenkintown location.
Rosenthal said he has been cooking since he was a little kid, and he traveled down South and just fell in love with barbecue, but no one in the Philadelphia area did it right.
When Rosenthal decided to open a restaurant, he went looking for a chef in the only place a good barbecue chef could be found—Memphis—and he found one. Jarvis Morris was born and raised in Memphis, and worked at Neely’s BBQ for 15 years. He responded to Rosenthal’s ad for a chef and relocated his talents to the Philadelphia area.
“It’s as authentic as you can get,” said Rosenthal.
Rosey’s BBQ is going to be open all July 4th weekend to fulfill your barbecue needs. Regular hours will be Wednesday and Thursday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. More information, including a menu, can be found on the website.
