Ambiance Design, a provider of superior quality custom window treatments and home décor, donated $1000 to 5 Star Women, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives and securing the future for women veterans and their families.
Ambiance Design raised the donated funds through a Veterans Day promotion. The company pledged $100 for each project they sold from November 11 to December 11. They sold 10 projects and were able to raise extra funds though individual donations. “Since I served in the Air Force for seven years, I know firsthand the kinds of sacrifices members of the military make each and every day,” said owner Laura Hawley. “When the opportunity to help 5 Star Women came along, I couldn’t say no.”
The partnership between Ambiance Design and 5 Star Women came about when Hawley and 5 Star Women’s executive director Barbara Doyne were selected as the only two women out of twenty honorees, who were recognized as Veterans of Influence in Philadelphia last year. As women veterans, they made an immediate connection, resulting in additional conversations about ways they could work together to make a difference in the lives of other women veterans.

“It is critical that we continue to raise awareness for this diverse population of extremely talented and deserving women, as they transition from the military to their post-military lives,” said Doyne.
“Our women veterans have already contributed so much to society, and want to continue in their post-military careers, while being able to support their families,” Doyne added. “The donation from Ambiance Design is a perfect example of women coming together to support other women, in this case our women veterans.”
