Walking into Sew Vintage: Like Walking to an Elegant Closet
Newest downtown merchant celebrates its grand opening April 1.
Walking into Sew Vintage Boutique is like walking into an elegant closet filled with beautiful jewelry and vintage clothing.
The newest addition to Ambler’s Main Street will hold its grand opening April 1. Sew Vintage Boutique, located at 60 E. Butler Pike, is a family-owned business that carries vintage and new vintage-style clothing and accessories.
The family team, Mary, Liz and Pam Giampa, came up with the idea when Liz, a retail advertising major at Temple University, realized that she and her friends were doing all of their clothing shopping in boutiques in Old City because they weren’t finding the vintage style in the surrounding community.

Liz described opening a store as something she has always wanted to do, and Mary echoed the sentiment, that it’s been her dream to open her own store. They all fell in love with the idea and took a shopping trip to Old City to see where Liz and her friends were shopping.
To decorate the store, the team used furniture and decorations from Mary’s mother, who immigrated to the U.S. from Italy and was a seamstress.

“There’s a lot of her in here,” said Mary as she scanned the store.
The brown vintage couches and the crystal lamps are two of the pieces she pointed out as coming directly from her childhood.
She added that they used everything they already had.
“Everyone has a little touch of something here,” Mary said.
The Giampas' goal is to have something for everyone in the store and have a price point to fit everyone’s budget—from $12 to $250, and everything in between.
The boutique also carries a variety of sizes and styles so that everyone that walks in can find something they like, whether they are 20 years old, or 60. The Giampas want their store to be known as the “go-to” boutique for all things vintage, old and new.
Consignment items will be accepted by appointment only—good condition clothing will be accepted, and the store will have certain standards for all consigned clothing and accessories.
The boutique is hosting a grand opening April 1 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. The date was chosen to honor Mary and Pam’s mother, and Liz’s grandmother, who passed away five years ago on that date. She was part of the inspiration for opening the boutique, and the ladies are carrying on her legacy in the store.
Regular store hours are Monday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from noon until 6 p.m. For more information, check out Sew Vintage on Facebook or call the store at 215-641-4832.
“We’re looking forward to doing business here in Amber,” said Mary.
