WATCH: Wissahickon Holds Grand Opening For Natatorium

The brand new home for the Wissahickon High School swim, water polo, and diving teams is now open.

AMBLER, PA — The brand new home for the Wissahickon High School swim, water polo, and diving teams is now open.

The school district held an opening ceremony for the natatorium on Nov. 2.

The 10-line competition pool includes seating for 342 spectators. It will also serve the Trojan Aquatics and Wissahickon Community Aquatic Club, high school gym class, and courses on lifeguard training.

Local groups like the YMCA plan to use it for community swim lessons as well.

“This community expects excellence from its schools and supports the district leadership in its quest for excellence," said Wissahickon school board president James Crisfield. "The Natatorium and Central Plant project is a perfect example of that commitment to excellence, as well as the district’s commitment to protect the investment the community has made in its school facilities.”

The district is currently working on upgrades to the central plant, including improving the athletic complex lobby, adding more restrooms, better drop-off area for parents and buses, new locker rooms and team rooms, a space for the Robotics team, and more.
