Adoptions From The Heart Announces Spring Ed Series

Adoptions From The Heart will host a new series of spring educational events.

Adoptions From The Heart has announced the agency’s new series of spring educational events. The series will be held over Zoom. Families from across AFTH’s service area are welcome to attend. The different classes will be held on April 23, April 24, May 1 and May 23. The first two classes will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m., while the last two will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. All classes will cost $25 per family. Registration will close one week prior to each class.

Each class will offer information about unique topics relating to adoption. The first class will cover post adoption do’s and don’ts. The panel will be led by several adoptive parents. The second class will cover the adoptive parent A to Z and will be led by a panel of adoptive parents. This event will focus on many topics within adoption, including LGBTQ+ adoption and single adoptive parents. The third class will go over essential information about Interstate Compact for Placement of Children (ICPC). This event will have a family who went through the ICPC process speak about their experience. The final webinar will consist of a panel of adoptive parents sharing their experiences with or without open adoption.

AFTH is also hosting an additional webinar covering prenatal drug and alcohol exposure. This class will be held on three different dates: April 16 from 7 to 8:30 p.m., July 27 from 10:30 to 12 p.m. and Oct. 22 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The registration deadline for these classes is noon the day prior. Registration is $50 per family.

Adoptions From The Heart (AFTH) was founded in 1985 by Maxine Chalker, social worker and fellow adoptee. Like many children born and placed for adoption during the 1950s, Maxine grew up with little information about her birth parents. It was Maxine’s dream to give adoption a new face by breaking down the barriers and taking some of the mystery out of the adoption process. AFTH is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide a safe, loving home for children and offer comprehensive, high-quality services to adoptive families, birth parents, and children. The agency is licensed in PA, NJ, DE, CT, VA, and NY.
