Ardmore Native Wins Second Golden Globe For Best Original Song

Ardmore's Benj Pasek and his writing partner Justin Paul now have two Golden Globes, an Oscar, and a Tony each.

ARDMORE, PA – Ardmore's own Benj Pasek walked out of the 75th Annual Golden Globes with another piece of hardware for his mantle, as he and his writing partner Justin Paul won Sunday night in the ceremony's Best Original Song category.

The duo secured their second Golden Globe (their first was earned for a song in "La La Land" last year) with the song "This is Me" from the Hugh Jackman- and Zac Efron-starring film "The Greatest Showman," which tells the story of PT Barnum and his circus.

The pair were up against fellow nominees and hit makers Nick Jonas, Mary J. Blige, and Mariah Carey, among others.

Most recently, the pair won a Tony Award for Best Original Score for the hit Broadway show "Dear Evan Hansen" in June 2017.

Before that, the team won a Best Original Song Golden Globe for the song "City of Stars" form the film "La La Land."

Then in February 2017, Pasek, Paul, and Justin Hurwitz earned an Oscar for the same song.

Pasek and Paul are ever-so-close to joining the "EGOT" club, as they now only need to win an Emmy and a Grammy to join the just 12 individuals who have all won Oscars, Tonys, Grammys, and Emmys.
