Armed Robbers Hit Wells Fargo Drive-Thru in Ardmore; Shackle Tellers
Two employees were tied up, but were not believed to be hurt.
Armed gunmen forced their way into the small in the Ardmore West Shopping Center on Dec. 22, tied up two tellers there and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said in a briefing on Tuesday.
The bank, a small stand-alone building wedged between the main part of the small strip mall (next door to a Mexican restaurant) and the McDonald's on Lancaster Avenue, near Ardmore Avenue, is a drive-through only operation. It has a small lobby with an ATM inside.
The robbers, who were not described by police, hit the bank at about 5:30 p.m. that day, the Thursday before the long Christmas weekend.

A security guard and branch manager at the bank on Tuesday afternoon said they could not comment on the incident, and would not refer Patch to anyone at Wells Fargo's corporate headquarters. Calls to the bank's main offices were not immediately returned.
The two employees were evidently unharmed, police said, and were able to free themselves enough to call police to the scene after the robbers departed.
