Attempted Car Thefts, Stolen Purses, More: Lower Merion Crime Blotter

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — Police in Lower Merion Township issued details on several days' worth of crime incidents recently.

Incidents occurred between Nov. 13 and Nov. 26.

Nov. 26

Theft from Vehicle (Ardmore) - Victim parked his Toyota in the parking lot of a church and went inside for mass. The victim advised he locked his vehicle and placed his keys inside his jacket. While at mass, the victim advised that he placed his jacket on a table and when he returned his keys were missing from the jacket and his wallet was missing from his Toyota.

Nov. 24

Theft from Vehicle (Ardmore) - Victim's unlocked Subaru was entered overnight while parked in the victim's driveway. A male actor is seen entering the Subaru through security video. The interior of the vehicle was rummaged through and there does not appear to be anything missing at this time.

Theft from Vehicle (Ardmore)- Victim's unlocked Ford was entered overnight while parked along the street in front of the victim's residence. A male actor is was seen entering the vehicle through security video. The interior of the vehicle was rummaged through and loose change was taken.

Nov. 23

Attempt Theft of Vehicle (Bala Cynwyd) - A concierge observed a group of males around a vehicle, which was parked in the lot of an apartment building. Actors fled in a dark colored Hyundai when confronted and pry marks were discovered along the passenger window of the Hyundai the actors were seen at.

Attempted Theft of Vehicle (Bala Cynwyd) - A Hyundai had a rear passenger window broken out while parked in a parking lot of an apartment building. The steering column was also tampered with. A witness advised that she observed a group of people entered a dark colored vehicle and leaving when the car alarm went off.

Attempted Theft of Vehicle (Bala Cynwyd) - A Kia was found parked in a parking lot with a broken passenger window. Damage was also located to the steering column and boot prints were located on the hood and the front windshield was shattered.

Nov. 21

Attempt Theft of Vehicle (Bala Cynwyd) - Victim's Corvette, while parked in a parking lot, had the passenger window broken out overnight. Victim advised that nothing appeared to be missing from the vehicle at the time.

Attempt Theft of Vehicle (Bala Cynwyd) - A second Corvette was discovered in the same parking lot. This vehicle also had the passenger window broken out and the hood was discovered popped.

Nov. 19

Theft of Purse, 2023 (Ardmore) - Victim had her purse and wallet removed from the auditorium of the high school. The victim advised that she placed her purse under a seat while assisting with a play and later noticed the purse was missing. The purse was located outside the school but the contents removed. Investigation is continuing.

Nov. 18

Theft of Purse (Ardmore) - Victim had her wallet removed from her purse which was placed in the top of a shopping cart. Victim reported a male, hovering near her at one point while shopping. Investigation into the incident is continuing.

Nov. 15

Theft from Vehicle (Bala Cynwyd) - Victim's unlocked Jeep was entered while parked along the street and gone through by unknown actor(s). Victim's wallet and other items were removed from the vehicle.

Theft of Purse (Ardmore) - Victim had her wallet removed from her purse, which was placed in the top of a shopping cart.

Theft from Vehicle (Bala Cynwyd) - Victim's unlocked Subaru was entered and gone through by an unknown actor(s). It does not appear as if anything was removed from the vehicle.

Theft of Purse (Wynnewood) - Victim had her wallet from from her purse, which was placed in the top of a shopping cart. Victim stated she was approached by a female, who abruptly started and ended a conversation with her. Investigation continuing.

Nov. 14

Forcible Rape (Bala Cynwyd) - Female victim found unconscious and unclothed on the Cynwyd Trail by a passerby. Investigation continuing.

Nov. 13

Theft of Purse (Penn Valley) - Victim had her wallet removed from her purse, which was placed in a shopping cart, while shopping at a local grocery store. 2 male actors observed on camera distracting female and taking her wallet. Investigation continuing.
