Black Villanova Student Knocked Over As White Suspects Yell 'Trump, Trump, Trump'

The incident on Villanova University's campus is the most recent example of post-election racial tension.

Several white males allegedly assaulted a black female student at Villanova University on Thursday, running at her and yelling "Trump, Trump, Trump!"

Philly.com reports the incident occurred at the SEPTA tunnel on campus Thursday night.

The student was knocked to the ground as the men yelled at her, and she struck her head when she fell. Neither the student nor the attackers were named by authorities.

In a university wide email addressing the incident, Rev. Peter M. Donohue, Villanova's president, condemned the reports.

"I am deeply disturbed by several reports of members of our community using our nation's political process as a justification for behaviors and language aimed to intimidate or humiliate other people," Donohue said.

It's the latest in a string of race-related incidents around the nation in the wake of Donald Trump's victory over Hillary Clinton in the presidential election Tuesday. On Friday, it was revealed that a black freshman at the University of Pennsylvania was added to a racist group text message which depicted lynching. Meanwhile in Bucks County, racist messages were scrawled onto bathroom stalls at Council Rock North High School

Both Radnor Police and the Villanova Department of Public Safety are investigating the incident.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police at 610-688-0503 or university Public Safety at 610-527-3293.
