Vandalism, Harassment At CRN High School Following Election, District Says

Swastika drawings and harassing comments toward Latino students prompted the superintendent to release a statement.

Council Rock North High School saw vandalism and harassment following Tuesday's election, according to Council Rock School District Superintendent Robert J. Fraser said Thursday.

"Please know that, sadly, we have experienced acts of vandalism and harassment at Council Rock North in the aftermath of Tuesday’s presidential election," Fraser said in a statement.

Fraser said one incident occurred in a girls’ restroom, where on a hanging piece of paper someone wrote “I Love Trump,” a derogatory comment about people who are gay and three swastikas.

Fraser also said another incident occurred in a different girls’ restroom where someone wrote "If Trump wins, watch out!" on a toilet paper dispenser.

Additionally, two swastikas were drawn directly onto a boys' restroom stall.

Graffiti was not the only post-election commotion at the school, either.

Fraser said a Latina student found a note in her backpack telling her to return to Mexico and said inappropriate comments have been reportedly made toward Latino students.

"I cannot emphasize strongly enough how inappropriate these actions are and that they simply will not be tolerated," Fraser said. "These incidents have been reported to the Newtown Township Police Department and an investigation is being conducted by both the police department and the school district."

Fraser closed the statement by saying he regrets having to issue the statement and that the incidents are likely stemming from a very small number of people.

"We are better than this, and ours is a community that must be based upon a mutual respect for all people, and all of Council Rock," he said.
