Burglaries, Stolen Vehicle, Thefts, More: Lower Merion Crime Blotter

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — Police in Lower Merion released details on the latest crime incidents in the township.

Incidents occurred between Dec. 4 and Dec. 13.

Dec. 13

Burglary (Penn Valley) - Victim discovered the glass from a sliding door was broken out. The door was located on an elevated deck at the rear of the property. Victim advised the residence is vacant and the burglary occurred between Dec. 8th and 9th but reported it late to police. The investigation into this incident is continuing.

Theft from Vehicle (Ardmore) - Victim reported that after shopping she was advised by a witness that an actor was observed rummaging through the interior of her vehicle. No apparent loss at this time. The investigation is continuing.

Theft from Vehicle (Belmont Hills) - Victim reported that her vehicle was gone through overnight. A hunting knife was stolen. The investigation is continuing.

Burglary (Bala Cynwynd) - Property manager contacted police advising that the front door of an apartment was forced open sometime during the day. Officer's located heavy ransacking throughout the apartment. A firearm and other items were taken. The investigation into this incident is continuing.

Dec. 12

Theft from Vehicle (Wynnewood) - Victim observed a actor inside his vehicle which was parked in front of his residence. Victim advised he scared away the actor and last observed him walking down the street. The investigation into this incident is continuing.

Dec. 11

Theft of Vehicle (Bala Cynwyd) - Victim's Kia was stolen from a repair shop after being dropped off for service. Security video shows an actor approach the vehicle, break the passenger side window and drive off with the victim's vehicle. Investigation into this incident is continuing.

Dec. 10

Burglary (Gladwyne) - A burglary was discovered by a homeowner returning home from a trip. Force was discovered to the rear door of the residence. It appears the burglary occurred between Dec. 7th and 10th, and there is no apparent loss at this time. The investigation into this incident is continuing.

Dec. 9

Theft from Building (Penn Valley) - Homeowner discovered that a lawnmower and other tools were removed from his detached garage.

Burglary (Bryn Mawr) - A burglary was discovered after the homeowners observed multiple actors walking around the exterior of the house as well as through the inside of the house. Entry was gained by the actors breaking a rear window and ransacking multiple bedrooms. An actor was stopped outside the residence and taken into custody by Officers arriving on scene. Jewelry, watches and purses were removed from the residence. The investigation into this incident is continuing.

Dec. 8

Burglary (Gladwyne) - A burglary was reported to this department by the homeowners. Force was discovered to a side door and jewelry was removed from the residence. It appears the burglary occurred between November 28th and Dec. 5th. The investigation into this incident is continuing.

Dec. 7

Burglary (Penn Valley) - A burglary was discovered by the care taker of a property while the homeowners were out of state. Force was discovered to a rear window of the property. Jewelry and handbags were removed from the property. The investigation into this incident is continuing.

Theft of Vehicle (Bala Cynwyd) - A Hyundai was stolen from the parking lot of a apartment complex. Surveillance video shows an actor breaking the passenger window of the vehicle before leaving the parking lot.

Dec. 6

Theft of Wallet (Wynnewood) - Victim had their wallet and cell phone removed from the top of an unattended shopping cart at a local grocery store. Investigation into this incident is continuing.

Dec. 5

Burglary (Villanova) - A burglary was discovered in a vacant home by a relative. Force was discovered to a rear window and numerous windows were ransacked. Jewelry, scarfs, watches and silver were removed from the residence. The investigation into this incident is continuing.

Dec. 4

Burglary (Gladwyne) - Officers responded to a discovered burglary. Force was discovered to a rear second story window, which appears that access was gained to by climbing on patio furniture. A second story bedroom was ransacked and jewelry was taken. The investigation into this incident is continuing.
