Burglaries, Thefts, Stolen Vehicles: Lower Merion Crime Blotter

Lower Merion Township Police reported four recent burglaries in Merion Station, Bryn Mawr, Bala Cynwyd, and Penn Valley.

LOWER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA — Police in Lower Merion issued details on recent crime incident in the township.

The incidents shared occurred between Nov. 27 and Dec. 3.

Dec. 3

Attempt Theft of Vehicle (Bala Cynwyd) – Witness observed 2 actors walking around vehicles in a parking lot after hearing a car alarm go off. Officers arriving on scene found a Hyundai with damage to the driver’s side door lock and steering column. Investigation into this incident is continuing.

Burglary (Merion Station) – Resident return home to find ransacking in their second floor bedrooms. Force discovered to a second-floor window where patio furniture was stacked up below. Cable wires were also cut on the exterior of the property. The only items that appear to be missing are pillowcases and jewelry. The investigation into this incident is continuing.

Dec. 2

Burglary (Bala Cynwyd) – Victim returned to their residence to find screens removed from rear 1st floor windows and the windows broken. Ransacking was discovered inside but nothing appears to be missing at this time. Investigation into this incident is continuing.

Dec. 1

Theft from Vehicle (Bala Cynwyd) – Victim’s Cadillac had a rear passenger window broken out while parked in the parking lot of a local fitness center. The victim’s purse and contents were stolen from the vehicle. Investigation into this incident is continuing.

Theft from Vehicle (Bala Cynwyd) – Victim’s Tesla had a passenger seat window broken out while parked in the parking lot of a local fitness center. It does not appear as if anything is missing from the vehicle. Investigation into this incident is continuing.

Burglary (Bryn Mawr) – Officers responding to a security alarm discovered a broken rear 1st floor window. No ransacking was observed, and it does not appear as if anything was taken. This investigation is continuing.

Nov. 30

Theft from Vehicle (Bala Cynwyd) – Victim’s unlocked Subaru was entered overnight while parked along the street in front of the residence. Multiple compartments of the vehicle were gone through, but nothing appears to be missing at this time.

Arson (Merion Station) – An arson occurred at the home of an elderly victim where the suspect ignited a fire at the front door under a covered porch. The victim was not injured. The investigation identified a suspect who was connected to prior threats against the victim’s granddaughters. The suspect was arrested and charged with attempted murder, arson, and related offenses. Nov. 29

Theft from Vehicle (Bala Cynwyd) – Victim had the license plate removed from their Mercedes while parked in a parking garage overnight. Investigation into this incident is continuing.

Theft from Vehicle (Villanova) – Victim’s unlocked Porsche was entered overnight while parked in their driveway. A purse and its contents were removed from the vehicle. Investigation into this incident is continuing.

Nov. 28

Theft from Vehicle (Merion Station) – Victim’s Hyundai had the rear driver window broken out. Nothing appears to be missing from the vehicle at this time. Investigation into this incident is continuing.

Burglary (Penn Valley) – Victim observed multiple actors on his property through security system. Officers arrived and found force to a rear patio door. Ransacking was located through multiple bedrooms. Investigation into this incident is continuing.

Nov. 27

Theft from Vehicle (Overbrook) – Victim’s unlocked Jeep was entered while parked in their driveway. Sunglasses were found to be removed from the vehicle. Victim observed a male actor enter their vehicle and multiple other vehicles along the street before leaving in a sedan which was parked along the street. The investigation is continuing.

Theft from Vehicle (Overbrook) – Victim’s unlocked Ford was entered while parked in their driveway. It appears that a small amount of cash was removed from the vehicle. Actor from above incident observed entering the victim’s vehicle and attempting to enter a second locked vehicle in the driveway.

Theft from Vehicle (Overbrook) – Victim’s unlocked Infinity was entered while parked in their driveway. It does not appear as if anything is missing at this time. Actor from the above incident observed entering the victim’s vehicle and attempting to enter a second locked vehicle in the driveway.

Attempt Theft from Vehicle (Overbrook) – Male actor from previous incidents observed attempting to enter vehicle additional vehicle parked in a neighbor's driveway. Vehicles were locked and no attempts at forced entry into the vehicles were observed.
